At AAJ, we’ve all been there.  We’ve spent many years running and staffing large organizations and consulting companies, and we understand the many demands you face.  We have a unique ability to partner seamlessly with you to help define and fill your staffing needs.

We pride ourselves on delivering the rite person for the job.  We do our best to give our clients exactly what they ask for.

Our 28 years of local (DC Area) experience has allowed us to create a candidate-pool and client-base that is well established and diverse.

Our successes have earned us an undeniable reputation as fair business partners- to both our candidates and our clients.

We have three basic ways we do staffing with our clients:

Contract

Whether you need an Oracle DBA for a 3-month project, a Product Marketing Manager for a launch, a Java developer for a year or a Project Manager to start immediately and stay through delivery, AAJ can help.  We find you the correct person for the engagement, and make the business side of the deal as painless as possible.  You’ll also find our rates are more reasonable than our competition because we don’t try to maximize every deal.  Our goal is to always create a deal that is win-win-win.  In the end we want the Client and the contractor to feel great opportunity.

Temp-to-Perm

AAJ mitigates the risk of hiring by offering our clients a chance to get to know our candidate before making permanent decisions.  In many cases it makes sense to bring on a candidate as a contractor, and later change the status of this person to employee.  If a client wants to hire an individual, and that person would like to be an employee of the client, it would be bad business not to let this happen.  We negotiate our deal up front with our clients to make this as simple and cost effective as possible.

Permanent

We won’t waste your time with a hundred resumes, and only five good ones.  We’ll send you as many as we can, but they will match what you’re looking for.  They’ll be pre-qualified by our expert team.  We promise you won’t waste your time looking at resumes that aren’t a good fit – the people we’ll send over will be solid.  They will have been interviewed at least twice.  And, they will want the job.  We will never send over a resume for someone who is not interested in the opportunity.  We’re looking for a good fit for both the client and the candidate.  We don’t want to waste your time, the candidates time, or our time by sending over candidates that we know have no chance of being successful.

How We Find Candidates

Our Network – and Our Database

We have all been in business for a long time, and have been responsible for identifying, hiring and leading strong talent across each of AAJ’s areas of expertise.  We each have a large personal network of Passive Job seekers.  Add to that everyone that we’ve spoken to and interviewed, and we have over three thousand candidates in our database. This is where we start a search, rather than rely on the public databases.

Public Job Sites

Sometimes we will not have a candidate, or candidates in our database, that are a fit for a particular engagement.  In these cases, we’re not afraid to go out, and go through the public databases, and also to put advertisements in various on-line places where qualified candidates are currently looking for opportunities.  That being said, we carefully go through every candidate that we find through this process, and follow our standard procedures to make sure we only submit excellent candidates.  We do this … so you don’t have to.

Assessment Tests

We are technologists.  While we do not code these days, we have enough depth to quickly determine a candidates relative technical strength.  We augment our technology depth with automated testing of a wide variety of specific technology tools. We test our technical candidates leveraging online testing tools to verify the scope and breadth of their skills. We also conduct interviews which require candidates to demonstrate good communications skills. We ensure that our candidates can communicate effectively, which we believe is imperative for great contractors/employees.  No matter the skill set that is desired, you can be assured that we will ensure that candidate claims are substantiated.

Reference Checks

We conduct multiple reference checks to validate our candidate’s credentials. This is all done to help ensure the most qualified candidate is submitted for your engagement.  We want to make sure you get only the best, brightest, and honest candidates that we can find.

Our Principles & Our Value Proposition

Honesty and Integrity Count – We began AAJ with the belief that if you do the right thing, it comes around.  We tell both Clients and Candidates as much as we can.  We don’t hide the facts about an engagement.  We treat everyone with respect.  One way we do this is by letting our candidates/employees know exactly what rate we are billing them out at.  Or, in the case of direct hires – we work with the Candidates to come up with a compensation level that makes sense, and submit them at the corresponding rate.  We’re also happy to tell our clients how much we are paying someone.  Why not?

We charge a fair price for the value we add – We don’t mark candidates up 100% just because we can.  We mark candidates up enough to cover our costs, and make a few dollars.  For example, if we a client comes to us, and says they are willing to pay us $125/hr for Java developer – but we only need to bill that person out at $95/hr to make our number – that’s what we’ll bill them out at.  We believe that makes sense in the long term for everyone.

Value Proposition – Our rates tend to be lower than the larger staff agencies.  How do we do it?  We keep our overhead low, we don’t spend a lot of money on Marketing, and we focus our business by leveraging our network of both candidates and clients.  By keeping our costs down, we can pay our contractors/employees better than the larger agencies, and also bill our clients at a lower rate.  We think that makes good business sense for everyone.

What This Means on the Full Time Employee Recruiting Side – we are contingency fee based, and our rate is lower than most of the Recruiting companies in the area.  We leverage the same infrastructure, find great candidates, and hopefully get them a job with a great client.  There’s something altruistic about helping someone get a full time job – and we like doing it.  Plus, if we treat that candidate well, they inevitably become a client at sometime in the future – now that’s networking!
